Spring Policy Forum Keynote is SAMHSA Director of CMHS

We are excited to announce that Paolo del Vecchio, MSW, Director of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) will be the keynote speaker at the Opening Plenary for the Spring Conference on June 11th in Raleigh. In his role, del Vecchio provides executive leadership for federal efforts to improve the nation’s mental health service systems. His presentation will focus on the federal vision for integrated care within the Medicaid program and what states, providers and managers must do to achieve this goal.

Other topics for the Spring Conference include a session led by Carole Matyas, Vice President of Behavioral Health Operations for Wellcare Health Plans. Matyas will address value based reimbursement that supports whole person care. Attendees will learn how a national MCO is addressing value based care, strategies they utilize with providers, and measures that determine value.

A session titled Centerpiece of Medicaid Transformation: Care Management will cover how care management will operate under the NC’s Advanced Medical Homes under the Standard Plan and Care Management under the Medicaid Tailored Plan. Conferees will have an opportunity to hear from a NC DHHS leader about the pivotal role that care management will play in their vision for Medicaid as well as from experts who have already been providing care management under managed care. Other topics will cover service innovations, mergers and acquisitions, I-DD Supportive Living Initiative and much more. Look for our conference program next month.

Robert Albright, Director of Programs for FSG Reimagining Social Change brings knowledge and experience in collective impact across a range of issue. He will lead a session titled, The Consumer Voice in System Transformation: Community Engagement Matters. Albright will present new approaches to engage and motivate people to create system change that is purposeful, strategic, equitable, and transparent. This session will be of interest to people who use behavioral healthcare and I-DD services, healthcare advocates, Community Engagement professionals within Managed Care Organizations, and others who are committed to effective, innovative, community change initiatives in our healthcare systems.
