The AdvaNCe Health Together initiative continues to move forward as a cohort of providers across North Carolina works to strengthen the state’s behavioral health infrastructure through the further development of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) and CCBHC look-alike models.
The collaborative—developed through a partnership between the NC Division of MH/IDD/SUS and OPEN MINDS, with support from the i2i Center for Integrative Health and Trillium Health Resources—has now completed two of the four scheduled hands-on symposiums. These convenings bring providers together for technical assistance, peer learning, and strategic discussion focused on building the operational and financial capacity required for the CCBHC model.
Participants have engaged in key implementation topics critical to developing a sustainable CCBHC ecosystem, including:
• Practicing at the top of license to maximize workforce capacity
• Bottleneck identification and diagnosis to improve system flow and access
• Mapping current-state workflows to support integrated care delivery
• Financial management under prospective payment systems and value-based reimbursement structures
As the public behavioral health system navigates significant federal and state funding and reimbursement changes, the CCBHC model offers a promising framework for stable, integrated, community-based behavioral health care. Initiatives like AdvaNCe Health Together are helping prepare providers and communities for a stronger, more coordinated system of care.
