In June, the U.S. Health and Human Services Administration announced $15 billion in Federal stimulus funding available for providers billing CHIP, Medicaid or an MCO, when the provider had not received funding from the Provider Relief Fund. In NC that would apply to behavioral health and I-DD providers. The funding is to provide relief for those experiencing loss or increased expenses due to COVID-19. It is important to note that the funds flow directly from HHS/CMS to providers, and that the NC Division of Health Benefits will not be coordinating them.
HHS explained that it expects to distribute $15 billion to eligible Medicaid/CHIP programs or Medicaid managed care plans. The payment to each provider will be at least 2 percent of reported gross revenue from patient care; the final amount each provider receives will be determined after the data is submitted, including information about the number of Medicaid patients providers serve. Providers must submit their data by July 20, 2020. Before applying through the Enhanced Provider Relief Fund Payment Portal applicants should:
