Everyone wants to have choice and options in their employment. Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE) is a term used to describe efforts to ensure that all individuals with disabilities have opportunities to not only work, but also work in the most integrated environment at a competitive wage. To get to this point, our state, through the NC Department of Health and Human Services, is working to determine how this can be accomplished in North Carolina. This summit provides a forum for all perspectives. A challenge is how we build upon current systems while moving to innovation and ways to support the spectrum of individuals with disabilities. The focus of the discussion will be on how perspectives can be valued as our state makes this transition.
